Facebook - Too much on your face now!

Ho! Hum! Hum! as treebeard would say in the Lord of the Rings... I shall start this as quickly as an ent can... So you see, I shunned these networking and these can-i-make-friendship-with-you sites till I was introduced to this site called facebook.com. Then all hell broke loose. Because you see, there are games, friends, photographs to comment on and well, really so many comments, posts and so many things to keep track of, so many comments to reply, so many things overall to do that well.. ahem, ho! hum! hum! I simply did not feel like well.. you know, to leave the website, thinking maybe....maybe I might miss something. Or well, I am bored so what the hell! let me just knock on someone's door and see what they are upto. Or maybe my city needs refreshments, and my cows need milking and my customers in the cafe need more food. Thus days passed till I saw the Vodafone ad for Facebook in their Nokia phones. Well, then ho! hum! hum! hum! I saw that instead of the protagonist, it was me in there. I felt I saw people through facebook. Really, its quite scary a concept to know that I am connected to facebooko and though facebook to the rest of the world. It made me open my eyes and look around. well, and LO! there were the greens and browns and the blues and yellows and the reds and oranges, no colour correction required and bright as you want or dim as you like. The coulours stared in my face and my eyes blinked. In surprise I stared and laughed out loud at the fact that I, who had never thought much of these stupid networking can-i-make-fraandsheep-with-you sites have turned around to see the world of mine through facebook.com.\
So hereby, I make a solemn promise that I shall cut down on my visits to facebook.com and shall wander through the wide avenues of the internet and avoid on-your-face facebook.com!

Stark.

The grey skies open up.
Clouds seem to part.
shadows are sharper,
Images seem to jump into your sight.
Stark.
Sun rays seem to penetrate through
lighting up the clouds like a halo.
Giving it a 3d effect,
Making things so crisp and clear.
Stark.
Nothing to hide behind.
Just you and the blinding reality
With the sun shining down
uncovering, making everything
Stark.

Heights of confusion!!

A sheep in a lion's coat
Or a lion in a sheep's coat?
Scurry away or confront?
Prey.
Or be preyed on?
Confounding, confusing
wondering now and again
If i am the hunter or the hunted

Smile

Words run in a loop,
I am stranded
in a soup of my own making.
Smiles & laughter spew out.
My lips spread wide
in a smile
that is just short of my eyes.

Not by words, but by deeds...

Indian youth are getting more aware. There are campaigns for corrupt free India. There's a campaign for clean cities. Indian youth are getting more patriotic. Indian students abroad have decided that mera bharat is definitely mahan. We don't have visa problems in this country after all!
But we do have some intrinsic problems. Problem of corruption, baksheesh, casteism...these divide our society and cut us deeper than any sword or word can.
Its not a word, but a deed that changes the country. The first division in this country that is deeper than religion is caste. It starts from our homes, temples, schools to government jobs and every other aspect of our life. First thing you know is which category you fall in general, SC/ST, OBC. If you are in general category, you don't get any government benefits. If you are an SC?ST, OBC, you get looked down by society.
In the name of hygiene, there are different sets of vessels for the members of the lower castes in upper caste houses. Are they less human than the upper castes?
In the name of creating equal opportunities, a student of lower caste can get admission in top engineering and medical colleges even though he has 40%-50% aggregate. But a student of general category needs to have 80%-90% for the same college and the same course.
Yet we are the largest democracy. What a laugh!
60+ years after foreigners completed the divide and rule policy, we took up where they left off. We, as Indians, know the intricate social divides in our country. The elite cream of the society who had power then, manipulated the laws to increase the divisions. Social reforms were forgotten and in the name of equality, divisions were enhanced. Now, this mammoth democracy is completely divided.
Religion, caste, corruption.
Everything is saturating this country. Its all boiling up now. Every one is becoming more aware. But can we just look into ourselves and see what we are doing to help or harm? Can each one say and practice, "I am not going to give money to someone to do his/her job?" I am going to give merit to merit? I am going to avoid littering?
Can we be honest with ourselves and live in a way that we want our country to be? So that We have a hand in making our country, the way we want it?
The revolution doesn't start when you speak out. It starts when you practice what you speak.

Slumber

I crave for it
yet when I lie down
my eyes are wide open,
my mind whirs with thoughts whizzing past
unsettled, super-aware,
I try to close my mind,
blink at the ceiling all night long.
ere morning arrives,
with droopy eyes , a tired mind,
laughter on my lips
fatigue in my body,
I crave on
...but sleep.... still eludes me
